Supervisor/Manager with daily organization and supervision of work
activities. Performs duties characteristic of a Medical Laboratory
Scientist/Medical Laboratory Technician. Provides technical
assistance to managers and staff. Provides training/competency to
staff. Facilitates communication between shifts, sections, and
hospital departments. Ensures day to day operations are carried out
by staff in a professional, service focused manner. Assumes duties
of Supervisor/Manager in his/her absence. Assists in ensuring
compliance with all regulatory agencies including CAP, FDA, CMS
(CLIA), TJC and AABB. Minimum Qualifications: 1. Formal Education
Required (either a or b): a. Bachelor of Science degree listing one
of the required areas of study (Biology, Chemistry, Medical
Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science) if degree does not
list area of study transcripts must be submitted for equivalency
evaluation. Acceptable transcripts must include: i. Sixty (60)
semester hours or equivalent from an accredited institution that,
at a minimum, includes either 24 semester hours of medical
laboratory technology courses, OR 24 semester hours of science
courses that includes six semester hours of chemistry, six semester
hours of biology and 12 semester hours of chemistry, biology or
medical laboratory technology in any combination, AND ii. Completed
one (1) year in approved program or equivalent with an accredited
recognized agency or organization (e.g. ASCP, AMT, Summa Lab Tech 1
training program, etc.). b. Undergraduate degree in Science with
acceptable transcripts which must include: i. Sixty (60) semester
hours or equivalent from an accredited institution that, at a
minimum, includes either 24 semester hours of medical laboratory
technology courses, OR 24 semester hours of science courses that
includes six semester hours of chemistry, six semester hours of
biology and 12 semester hours of chemistry, biology or medical
laboratory technology in any combination, AND ii. Completion of a
clinical laboratory training program approved or accredited by the
ABHES, the CAHEA, or other organization approved by HHS, or
completion of the Summa Lab Tech 1 training program, (This training
may be included in the 60 semester hours listed above) 2.
Certifications: a. Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT),
Medical Lab Scientist (MLS or Categorical certification in
appropriate specialty), or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) from
the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or American
Medical Technologists (AMT). 3. Experience & Training Required: a.
MT/MLS – minimum two (2) years related laboratory experience. b.
MLT – minimum five (5) years related laboratory experience. c.
Ability to read, comprehend and follow detailed laboratory
procedures, protocols, and instructions. d. Use of computers or
ability to acquire such skills to operate application packages used
by department e. Minimum of 12 continuing education credits are
required to be completed each calendar year for continued
employment. 4. Other Skills, Competencies and Qualifications: a.
Manual dexterity sufficient to operate, maintain and troubleshoot
laboratory equipment, identify, and correct technical problems. b.
Ability to work under stress, communicate test results to
physicians, nursing units, and/or other authorized personnel in a
professional fashion. c. Assumes accountability for demonstrating
behaviors consistent with the expectations defined in the employee
handbook, HR and departmental policies. d. Population Specific
Competency: Ability to effectively interact with populations of
patients/customers with an understanding of their needs for
self-respect and dignity. e. Demonstrates annual successful
completion of all regulatory required testing related competencies.
f. Experience utilizing Document Control Software, strong knowledge
of QC and CAP standards. g. Proficient in writing policies and
clinical laboratory procedures h. Strong analytical skills and
problem-solving abilities i. Excellent communication both oral and
written; Meticulous attention to detail. 5. Level of Physical
Demands: a. Medium: Exerts 20-50 pounds of force occasionally
and/or ten to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible
amount of force continuously to move objects. Equal Opportunity

on this job posting/advertising is base salary exclusive of any
bonuses or differentials. Many factors, such as years of relevant
experience and geographical location are considered when
determining the starting rate of pay. We believe in the importance
of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team
members when determining offers. Please keep in mind that the range
that is listed is the full base salary range. Hiring at the maximum
