About the Position
This position is responsible to provide engineering design support
to Goodyear's Race Tire Development efforts. This individual seeks
solutions to technical design challenges, conducts work on assigned
tasks, and exhibits a level of knowledge commensurate with
experience. MUST be willing to travel.
Design race tire products that meet and exceed the needs of our
Implement products, processes, methods that meet internal and
external customer requirements.
Support evaluation of products, processes, methods and obtain
results. Actively support efforts in the manufacture of quality
products and processes.
Provide engineering track support at test sessions and race
Interface directly with Race teams to understand their needs and
maintain open lines of two-way communications.
Communicate and solve problems by interpreting and analyzing
Translate product needs to experimental data or design
Work with other internal teams and product groups to bring new
technology to market
Obtain required training and skill development for position
specific skills and personal development.
Up to 50% travel during Race Season (February through November) to
support weekend Race events
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor's Degree in mechanical engineer or other related
engineering degree required.
Prior manufacturing or engineering design experience desired.
Prior Co-op/Squad experience with Goodyear desired.
Skills and Abilities
Basic understanding of science & technology in the appropriate
Basic comprehension of statistical design & analysis; cause &
effect analysis & risk analysis.
Ability to carry out assignments in a logical fashion using
existing technology & standardized methods.
Understanding of technical drawings & procedures.
Basic organization, communication & experimentation skills
