Job Description:
The Physical Therapist evaluates and treats patients,
communicates to referral sources, provides daily documentation and
marketing services.
Responsibilities:
Evaluates and treats physical therapy patients and communicates to
referral sources about patient's initial condition, progress, and
discharge disposition.
Completes patient related and non-patient related documentation in
a timely manner.
May delegate and supervise the patient care of PTAs, support staff
and students.
Markets services to patients, referral sources, and the public.
Forms and maintains positive interpersonal relationships with
patients and staff. Practices team work.
Effectively organizes work assignments and time, without
compromising quality patient care, to achieve maximum productivity
and efficiency.
Achieves personal and professional development through
participation in continuing education, in-services, orientation
programs and student programs.
Maintains an orderly and safe work environment. Keeps treatment
areas and department clean and orderly.
Other duties as assigned.
Completes mandatory education and training in order to maintain
organization and department specific competencies and requirements.
Maintains applicable certification/licensure.
Follows Hospital and department policies and procedures with
special attention to attendance and punctuality, confidentiality,
dress code and display of ID badge, and safety.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy.
Certifications:
Current license to practice Physical Therapy in Ohio. (PT)
BLS certification.
Complexity of Work:
Maintains competencies specific to patient population served.
Ability to establish and maintain courteous cooperative and
respectful relations with patients and staff.
Work Experience:
Previous experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to walk and climb stairs without assistive device and to
maintain balance despite sudden load in order to support patient
from falling.
Ability to lift and reach with arms sufficiently to lift patient's
arm and leg during therapeutic treatment program.
Sensation of touch and manual dexterity to be able to palpate
muscle tension or to monitor patient pulse.
Visual acuity to observe patient's gross and fine motor movements
in order to analyze these movements and to read all patient
monitors.
Ability to speak clearly enough to instruct patients and
families.
Ability to hear at a conversational level to understand patient's
description of symptoms and response to treatment.
Personal Protective Equipment:
Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as
required.
