Job DescriptionScope of PositionThe OSU Medical Center and OSU
Harding Hospital are committed to enhancing the ?quality of care?
our patients receive. The Psychiatric Emergency Services Department
facilitates inquiries about and access to Psychiatric Services on a
24-hour basis. The Psychiatric Emergency Clinician supports the OSU
Harding Behavioral Health Stress, Trauma and Resilience Program
Trauma Recovery Center (STAR TRC), and functions as a critical
member of a team of professional healthcare providers cultivating
collaboration, enthusiasm and mutual respect, and is key in
operationalizing the Medical Center?s mission, values, and goals.
The Psychiatric Emergency Clinician focuses on helping patients at
the Medical Center who are victims of crime to return to stable
functioning by increasing their immediate access to mental health
services, facilitating transportation when necessary, linking with
available financial benefits, and linking with emergency funding
for housing, clothing and prescription medications, and finally, by
linking victims of crime with community based resources to address
ongoing support needs. The role of the Psychiatric Emergency
Clinician is to assist clients with crisis assessment, linkage and
management toward meeting basic needs is an essential first step
towards stabilization and dealing with the mental health
consequences of violent crime, and provides inpatient and
outpatient programs for adult, children, and adolescents. The
department provides the intake and telephone consultation to
referral sources regarding access to services. The Psychiatric
Emergency Services Department also conducts face-to-face evaluation
for intake and/or crisis assessment and linkage to appropriate
services.Position SummaryThe Psychiatric Emergency Clinician
facilitates the intake and admissions process for the OSU Medical
Center?s (OSUMC) Psychiatric Services by providing initial crisis
assessment, intervention, and evaluation for Victims of Crime
Assistance (VOCA) as part of the OSU STAR Trauma Recovery Center to
available programs, in collaboration with a Psychiatric Physician.
VOCA assessments occur primarily in the OSU Emergency Department or
in OSU Harding Hospital, but may also occur elsewhere within OSUMC,
on request. In addition, The Psychiatric Emergency Clinician may
assist with the entire intake process, including triage of referral
source calls, assumes responsibility for a variety of clinical
(e.G. patient flow and tracking), educational, administrative and
fiscal projects and must work effectively with other departments
including: clinical service providers, grant administrators, law
enforcement, information systems, demographic, clinical, and payor
information, verification of insurance benefits, eligibility,
pre-certification, and the registration/admitting process. This
position will assist with the inpatient Psychiatric unit?s
discharge planning to facilitate the transition from hospital
treatment to continuing mental health care following inpatient
treatment.Required QualificationsFor Hire: Masters Degree in mental
health discipline or equivalent of education and experience
required, LSW or LPC license required with LISW or LPCC preferred.
If LSW/LPC, working towards and obtaining LISW/LPCC licensure
required. A current Ohio professional licensure required.
Experience in crisis intervention and inpatient psychiatric care is
desired.Regular 30 First Shift
