JOB DETAILSThe Quality Assessments Division of Smithers (SQA) is looking for a Manager of Operationsin our North America office. This position oversees and directs all activities of the North America operations staff for each business sector, including ISO, Aerospace, and Automotive, focusing on development, application and maintenance of quality standards and oversight requirements.Essential duties and responsibilities include:Ensure management system policies, procedures, work instructions, etc. to meet accreditation requirements globally are maintainedRegularly report on the activities in North American officeMaximize the utilization of staff, manage operations personnel and contract auditors and conduct performance reviews in accordance with SQA policies and procedures.Maximize profit from auditing and related services in accordance with approved budget goals.Supervise assignments; ensure that all required audits and related services are scheduled and conducted within standard regulations.Review proposals to determine accuracy, timeframe, and funding limitations prior to obtaining approval.Review and approve audit reports; maintain custody and security for client files.Reviews and modifies status reports prepared by administrative staff, schedules or plans as required.Coordinate and manage scope expansion activity.Supports SQA during accreditation body office surveillance.Supports Executive Certification Panel actions; Recommends new members.Coordinate project activities with activities of government regulatory or other governmental agencies.Respond to client complaints/corrective actions with satisfactory resolution.Maximize client retention through pro-active client interface.Continuously improve work processes and staff skill levels/capabilities.Contribute to the development and management of SQA goals/objectives/departmental budgets/strategic plans.Create and conduct internal training as required.Support international locations as appropriate.This position carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies, accreditation and approval bodies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees. A team player with excellent communication skills that thrives in a team-based environment. Applies a client centric approach to problem resolution. Ability to develop and manage a high-performance team to grow one of the leaders in technical and quality services.EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:MBA with business focus desirable or Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
