City of Fairlawn Police ChiefThe City of Fairlawn, Ohio, a community of 7,437 residents which swells to a population of 25,000-50,000 depending upon the season and business day due to a large business and commercial segment, is seeking applicants for the position of Police Chief, who will direct a staff of 23 full-time and several part-time officers, in addition to dispatchers and support staff.This is an unclassified position serving at the pleasure of the Mayor.The successful candidate will be appointed by the Mayor with the consent of Fairlawn City Council. Candidates must possess excellent leadership, administrative, organizational, and public relations skills. Qualifications include a minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience and at least 3 years of command experience in law enforcement, along with significant education and training in law enforcement. Candidates must be OPOTC certified. A Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice or a related field is highly desirable. A working knowledge of budgeting, collective bargaining and manpower allocation is also highly desirable.
