Computer Forensics Solutions Advisor

Deloitte Transactions and Business Analytics LLP advises clients on managing business controversy and conflict, executing deals, and maintaining regulatory compliance. We provide services to companies throughout their lifecycle from purchasing a company to investigating potential fraud.

The Team

In 2008, Deloitte Transactions and Business Analytics LLP (DTBA) opened a new facility in Nashville, TN for e-discovery and computer forensics work. DTBA's E-Discovery Solutions Center ("EDSC") continues to increase the capacity, quality, and efficiency of DTBA' s e-file processing by utilizing state-of-the-art technology in a dedicated environment. We are looking for dedicated individuals to join DTBA's Discovery & Data Management practice and help drive the success of the EDSC.

Work you'll do:

  • Apply Data Intake procedures pertaining to forensic applications and concepts
  • Track and record project workflow and milestones as required
  • Perform data transfers preserving original metadata of native files
  • Perform quality control of work product
  • Provide timely and accurate estimates on project status and issue updates to Computer Forensics management team
  • Attend team meetings and assist with meeting preparation
  • Identify strategic initiatives, seek ways to improve team efficiency and drive work performed by the team
    • Perform computer forensic services including digital evidence collection, preservation, analysis, data recovery, electronic mail extraction, and database examination
    • Perform comprehensive technical analyses and interpretations of computer-related evidence such as e-mail and information stored on electronic devices
    • Maintain detailed written work logs and case documentation following forensic procedures
    • Communicate security concerns effectively to Computer Forensic Lead
    • Ensure all lab hardware and software are verified and validated as required by the Federal Rules of Evidence
    • Liaise regularly with Computer Forensic Lead to discuss progress and raise issues/concerns
    • Show ownership of all tasks assigned, take accountability for the work while in your custody and ensure necessary details are provided to whom it is handed off to maintain consistency of process and quality
    • Perform data decryption using commercial decryption utilities.
    • Examine Macintosh and Windows operating systems, PC hardware and mobile devices
    • Provide coverage for the EDSC's 24X7 operation by working days, nights, or weekends, including holidays.
      The hours for this role will start off as regular weekday hours (Monday - Friday) from 9:00 - 6:00 pm CST or 8:00 - 5:00 pm CST. Once role holder is sufficiently autonomous, there may be an expectation to move him/her to weekend, 2nd shift or a hybrid of the two depending on the team needs. 2nd shift is 12:00pm - 9:00 pm CST. Weekend Shift includes Saturday and Sunday and is 8:00am - 6:00 pm CST. A hybrid would be a 4 day schedule and includes weekdays 10:00am - 9:00pm CST and weekend 8:00am - 6:00 pm CST.


      • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and an overall attention to details
      • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
      • Availability to work under tight deadlines in fast-paced data production environments
      • Ability to complete required documentation: Chain of Custody, Digital Evidence Collection reports, etc.
      • Comfortably perform troubleshooting and learn customized proprietary and third-party software, along with other emerging technologies
      • Knowledge of the accepted standards for digital evidence handling
      • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
      • Ability to update, edit or create documentation on Computer Forensics processes and workflows
      • Bachelor's Degree preferably Computer Science or equivalent work experience
      • Knowledge of computer forensics software, hardware, and methodologies, including use of tools such as Forensic Tool Kit (FTK), EnCase Forensic Edition, EnCase Enterprise Edition, and Cellebrite Physical Analyzer
      • Travel up to 5% (While 5% of travel is a requirement of the role, due to COVID-19, non-essential travel has been suspended until further notice)
      • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future
        • 3 years of hands-on experience in computer forensics, data mining or data analysis
          • Advanced knowledge of PC functions in the Windows environment
          • Working Knowledge of networking, systems concepts, and FTP
          • Knowledge of the accepted standards for digital evidence handling
          • Experience with software licensing and working with third-party vendors
          • An understanding of principles of forensic integrity in information acquisition, analysis, and reporting
          • Proficiency in UNIX, Linux, Macintosh and Windows operating systems, PC hardware and networking, and network security hardware and software
            • Knowledge and understanding of information systems security; network architecture; general database concepts; document management; hardware and software troubleshooting; electronic mail systems (MS Exchange, Lotus Notes, etc)
            • Experience in Litigation Support industry process, tools, and technologies
            • College Degree Preferred
