Job Description Currently offering a generous Sign-On Bonus of $15,000 for nurses with over 1 year of experience for a 2-year work commitment! /n UPMC Shadyside is hiring a full-time Professional Staff Nurse to join their OR team! In this role, your orientation period schedule will be Monday through Friday 6:30am to 3pm. After orientation, various shifts are available based on the need. /n UPMC’s brand new Monthly Loan Repayment program, exclusively for 2024/2025 nursing graduates, offering $20,000* in loan repayment paid over three years (*Eligible flex full-time RN roles to receive prorated amount) /n UPMC Shadyside’s Operating Room (OR) serves patients through various surgical specialties including neuro, cardiac, ortho, vascular, urology, plastics, thoracic, robotics, and more! We do see a heavy oncology patient population. We are a 24-bed OR and we see over 60 cases per day. We are currently transitioning to a self-scheduling model to offer our staff greater work-life balance, and we boast a limited surgical schedule on the weekends. Our OR is a very team-centered department- we are one big team that helps each other out! /n Responsibilities /n /n - Consistently give appropriate feedback to all members of the health care team and participate in the nursing peer review process. /n - Demonstrate highly developed clinical assessment and analytical skills within the context of Relationship Based Care. /n - Apply the nursing process within the framework of Relationship Based Care to create a healing environment. /n - Formulate daily goals and a plan of care for patients that involves the patient as a partner and consider the individual needs of the patient in a holistic manner. /n - Create comprehensive patient documentation and promote communication between caregivers. /n - Create a caring and compassionate patient-focused experience by building healing relationships with patients, families, and colleagues. /n - Performs scrub role (requirement for RNs hired on or after July 1, 2023). /n /n - Prior nursing experience is preferred but not required. Graduate Nurses are encouraged to apply! /n - Operating room experience is preferred but not required. /n - Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred. /n - Critical thinking skills necessary to exercise and to lead others in application of the nursing process. /n - Mobility and visual manual dexterity. /n - Physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting and positioning of patients. /n /n Licensure/Certification /n /n - UPMC approved national certification preferred. /n - Current Pennsylvania licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse. /n - CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire. /n - Fit Testing Required /n - Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) /n - Registered Nurse (RN) /n - Act 33 with renewal /n - Act 34 with renewal /n - Act 73 FBI Clearance /n /n UPMC is an equal opportunity employer. /n Applicants will be placed in the appropriate job title and salary from the career ladder, based on their individual experience and education.
