Duties and Responsibilities Adds value as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team (ELT); understands the business, financials, industry, customers and strategy. Interfaces with Foundation and hospital Boards. Prepares, manages, and adheres to department budget to maintain expenditure controls and maximize philanthropic dollars. Monitors Foundation investments and policies. Has primary responsibility for designing and ensuring the success of a comprehensive fund-raising program to assist the Hospital in meeting its immediate and long-range financial goals. Supervises the Development and Grants staff; including fund-raising, special events and federal, state and local grant requests. Provides direction, coaches, trains and develops, and manages performance to company goals and expectations. Performs primary fund-raising duties include the identification, cultivation, and solicitation of major gift prospects as well as responsibility for annual, capital, planned giving and special event programs. Oversight of grants administration. Acts as Executive Director for the Foundation. Develops strategies for successful campaigns and establishes annual development goals and objectives. Designs and implements plans for the solicitation of five, six and seven figure gifts and cultivates and solicits key prospects and supports volunteers in their cultivation and solicitation efforts. Assists in design and provides supervision of development communication program. Serves as a Hospital representative to the community and selected constituent groups. Other duties as required. Technical Expertise Experience leading Development in a large organization or business unit is required with a minimum of $10 million raised annually. Experience with a significant record of increasing success in fund-raising and management responsibilities is required. Experience in the field of philanthropic fund raising with a significant record of increasing success in fund-raising and management responsibilities is required. Experience managing volunteer driven programs and maintain effective internal and external relationships with various constituencies is preferred. Experience working with all levels within an organization is required. Experience in healthcare is preferred. Proficiency in MS Office [Outlook, Excel, Word] or similar software and philanthropic software such as Raisers Edge is required. Education and Experience Education: Master's degree in Health Care Administration, Business Administration, journalism, communications, marketing, law, or related field is required. Years of relevant experience: 7 years required, 15 years preferred, with at least 5 years supervisory responsibility. Familiarity of Northeast Ohio and Children's Hospital market preferred. - While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to lift, walk, stand, sit, bend, reach with hands and arms, climb, push/pull, use hands, and see, hear and speak.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
- This position requires both normal office hours and off hours including fundraising and friend raising events on evenings and weekends. Local and national travel to meet with donors required.
