Onsite 2-3 days/weekSummary:The Director, Compliance & Privacy
oversees the Compliance function at Akron Children's Hospital
("ACH") and all of its operations including its subsidiaries
Children's Home Care Group and the Akron Children's Hospital
Foundation.Responsibilities:1. Adds value as a key member of
management; understands the business, financials, industry,
customers and strategy.2. Supervises employees, provides direction,
coaches, trains and develops employees, and manages performance to
company goals and expectations.3. Prepares, manages, and adheres to
department budget to maintain expenditure controls.4. Develops
written policies and procedures that establish standards for
compliance, coordinate the development of education and training
programs related to compliance issues5. Investigates reports of
alleged violations of the organization's compliance policies.6.
Facilitates and supports interpretation and compliance with all
applicable federal, state, and laws and regulations applicable to
health care providers including hospitals, physicians, APPs, home
care and charitable organizations.7. Builds and implements an
overall Hospital-wide compliance framework.8. Serves as the privacy
officer overseeing ACH's compliance with HIPAA.9. Works with IT on
protecting the privacy and security of health information.10.
Monitors compliance risk strategies and independently trouble
shoots problems, while providing sound advice.11. Ensures the Board
of Directors, senior leadership and management understand and
adhere to regulatory and other compliance management
requirements.12. Manages Hospital's hotline.13. Develops and keeps
abreast of latest compliance developments with respect to
regulatory bodies and ensures compliance with laws, rules and
regulations.14. Prepares reports to the Board and Audit Committee
and Senior Leadership relating to the Hospital's Compliance
activities.15. Other duties as required.Other information:Technical
Expertise1. Knowledge on existing and proposed laws and regulations
that may affect ACH's clinical and business practices2. Experience
overseeing and managing compliance related investigations and key
compliance areas.3. Experience working for a Hospital or health
care provider preferred.4. Experience overseeing and managing
compliance related investigations and key compliance areas. 5.
Experience working with all levels within an organization is
preferred.6. Experience in healthcare is preferred.7. Proficiency
in MS Office [Outlook, Excel, Word] or similar software is
required. Accounting software is required.Education and
Experience1. Education: Bachelor's degree and Juris Doctor
required. 2. Certification: None3. Years of experience: 10 years
plus experience interpreting Health Care and HIPAA laws, rules and
regulations. 4. Years of experience supervising: Minimum of 5 years
