Job Description:
Interstate Waste Services, a leader in environmentally
responsible waste management across the U.S. Northeast, is seeking
a motivated and detail-oriented Landfill Engineer to join our
dedicated team. This role focuses on designing, managing, and
overseeing projects at our landfill sites to ensure environmental
compliance, operational efficiency, and sustainable waste disposal
practices. The ideal candidate will contribute both technical
skills and innovative approaches to meet our commitment to
environmental stewardship. Design and oversee construction and
expansion projects at landfill sites, including leachate disposal
systems and gas collection systems. Monitor and ensure compliance
with all local, state, and federal regulatory requirements and
internal standards. Prepare and review technical engineering
drawings and specifications for landfill operations. Coordinate
with environmental scientists, planners, hazardous waste
technicians, and other engineers to address environmental issues.
Proactively identify and address potential environmental impacts
from landfill operations. Develops and implements site optimization
strategies to increase longevity and capacity while minimizing
environmental impact. Prepare reports and documentation for site
audits and compliance with environmental permits and regulations.
Strong proficiency with CAD software and Microsoft Office Suite.
In-depth understanding of geotechnical engineering principles.
Experience with environmental monitoring and regulatory compliance.
Excellent project management, organizational, and leadership
skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Effective
communication and teamwork skills. Medical Insurance Dental
Insurance Vision Insurance Professional Engineer (PE) license is
preferred. Certification in Hazardous Materials Management (CHMM)
or similar is a plus.
