Basic Function

This position has the responsibility for supporting and improving the existing equipment from a controls standpoint, including PLC's and communications, as well as identifying and implementing new control applications to improve plant throughout, profitability, stability, reliability, and safety for multiple facilities in the Akron, Ohio area. This position is expected to determine the upgrade path to installing Advance Process Control applications. This position generates a broad range of challenges that require routine interaction with other work groups to ensure maximum value is derived from the control systems.


Roles & Responsibilities

--- Ability to create/troubleshoot/edit Allen Bradley and Siemens machine control systems, including PLC controls and HMI screens --- Maintain process data collection system (Historian) --- Understand multiple operating systems (SCADA, Windows XP through Windows 11) --- Provides technical consultation, formal and informal training, and development of documentation, standards, and procedures in relation to their role --- Develop opportunities and assess benefits to be prioritized into a long range capital plan --- Conceives, justifies, designs, and commission new applications --- Support capital projects from initiation to installation --- Support all LyondellBasell standards, procedures, policies and practices --- Travel between multiple facilities locally for work or training as well as availability for infrequent regional travel --- Works with maintenance, operations or other departments to carry out responsibilities --- Mentor engineers, specialists, and technicians and provide training in the area of electrical controls, electrical applications and repair --- Other roles and responsibilities as assigned applying to the Electrical Controls Engineer position


Min. Qualifications

--- Minimum Bachelor of Science Electrical Engineering or Technology degree --- Minimum of three to five years of industry experience in the manufacturing setting --- The individual should understand process engineering theory and control theory fundamentals --- Candidates must have excellent leadership, ethics, teamwork, and communication skills with a results oriented commitment. The ability to manage multiple and changing priorities is essential. --- This position requires negotiating skills and the ability to resolve conflict across departmental lines to achieve objectives --- Key Applications include GE Prophesy, Factory Talk, Rockwell, K-Tron --- Strong commitment to safety, a high level of personal integrity, and dedication to conducting business in an ethical way --- Ability to manage multiple/changing priorities --- Advanced level of interpersonal capability to provide timely and effective problem solving --- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing with internal and external clients


Preferred Qualifications
