Purpose
Alterra Energy is Solving Plastic Pollution - on a global scale with the deployment of its continuous advanced recycling technology. At its Akron, OH facility Alterra Energy utilizes a patented thermochemical liquefaction technology to process 60 tons of waste plastic daily, diverting millions of pounds of plastic from landfills. Its team of engineers, experts and partners are driven by one purpose: creating a cleaner planet for future generations. Alterra Energy licenses its technology to entities looking to recycle more challenging plastics or seeking more sustainable products. It is partnering with companies in the solid waste industry, government entities and petrochemical companies.
You will be a key contributor to providing design engineering services for the innovation and deployment of our proprietary thermal liquefaction technology, and have an opportunity to become a leader as we strive to become the premier solution to provide ISCC Plus certified pyrolysis products for our customers.
Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 2+ years of industry experience in engineering design or projects
  • Excellent written and oral skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a strong sense of responsibility
  • Travel requirement up to 20%
    Responsibilities
    Lead and execute all deliverables of a Process Design Package (PDP), including but not limited to:
    • Basis of Design
    • Material and Energy Balance
    • Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs)
    • Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
    • Process Equipment List
    • Equipment data sheets
    • Utility Summary
    • Process Control Narrative
    • Instrument List
    • Line and Valve ListLearn the process technology through plant operations and mentorship from our licensing team
      Provide technical guidance for our customers during reviews of PHAs, P&ID, and HAZOP's
      Generate ideas for future technological improvements to exceed the evolving requirements of our customer base
      Interface and collaborate with customers during the phases of PDP & FEED
      Provide onsite construction, start up, and commissioning technical and operational support
      Improve our workflow of the deployment of our licensed technology
      Provide process technical support to the business development team
      Communicate effectively within the licensing team and project stakeholders, including the customer
      Technical and Industry Experience
      Effective technical and practical engineering skills and an ability to consistently deliver high quality and schedule driven work
      A strong foundation of the fundamental requirements of design engineering, and basic understanding of other relevant engineering fields
      General knowledge of manufacturing plant operations and maintenance
      A basic understanding of industry standards, specifications, codes, and regulations
