The position leads the research, planning, designing and implementation/installation of mechanical products and systems such as instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines and mechanical, thermal hydraulic or heat transfer systems to champion bringing new technology initiatives from concept to scale. A Lead Professional position is a recognized subject matter expert in a job area typically obtained through advanced education and work experience. Problems faced are difficult and often complex. Requires periodic communication and interaction with leadershipResponsibilities

  • Leads the design and development of new processes and/or machines to bring new technology initiatives from concept to scale
  • Leverages proven abilities in mechanical engineering to identify critical properties (i.e. material strength or strain limits) or interactions (i.e. contact stress) and evaluates designs against them.
  • Determines process & equipment design by balancing process cost, yield, and material waste considerations
  • Drives the use of quality tools like PFMEA to validate processes/equipment and release for use in production
  • Coordinates with a cross functional team to stand up new facilities, solidify supply chain, and ensure flawless launch of new technology
  • Conducts tests throughout all stages of processing to determine control over applicable variables and prevents/solves process problems
  • Manages and works with external partners to enhance and accelerate the design process
  • Champions the implementation/installation of new tools and equipment, leveraging hands-on abilities as needed
  • Identifies continuous improvement/automation activities
  • Supports relationships through strong communication and negotiation skills with internal and external stakeholdersMinimum QualificationsPreferred Qualifications
    • Effective, proven abilities to lead and collaborate within a team.
    • Proven machine and process design experience within a manufacturing environment
    • Experience with PFMEA and safety risk assessments
    • Excellent design aptitude and intuition - Necessary to connect process development to innovative design workstreams
    • Detail oriented & data driven mindset and abilities
    • Demonstrated history of using FEA and/or engineering hand calcs to asses designs prior to building
    • Thrives in a fast-paced project environment with open-ended challenges and frequently changing priorities - assertive, questioning
    • CAD Design (AutoDesk preferred)Minimum Qualifications
