active Physical Therapist license and 1 year of Physical Therapy
experience required. Applicants who do not meet these
qualifications will not be considered. A Physical Therapist is
needed for a contract role in Pittsburgh, PA, providing services
for students aged 3-22 at a specialized school for visually
impaired children. This opportunity involves covering a leave of
absence, offering a chance to make a meaningful impact in pediatric
physical therapy within an educational setting. Key
Responsibilities: Evaluate and assess student development, gross
motor function, and orthopedic factors affecting school
participation. Determine and coordinate adaptive equipment needs,
including communication with parents and classrooms, equipment
fabrication, purchase, maintenance, and modification. Develop and
implement individualized physical therapy treatment plans,
including aquatic therapy. Document physical therapy evaluations,
treatments, and prepare educationally relevant documentation such
as IEPs, progress reports, and evaluation summaries. Collaborate
with the educational team to promote best practices, effective
programming, and student progress. Provide consultation and
training for families, classroom staff, and residential personnel
on therapeutic activities, positioning, and student needs.
Supervise physical therapist assistants, aides, and student
therapists according to Pennsylvania state regulations. Participate
in team meetings, staffing sessions, clinic appointments, and
professional in-services. Consult with medical staff regarding
prescriptions and therapy recommendations. Perform other assigned
duties related to the role. Qualifications: Licensed Physical
Therapist with experience in pediatric and school-based settings.
Knowledge of adaptive equipment assessment and implementation.
Strong documentation and communication skills. Ability to
collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams. Supervisory
experience preferred. Familiarity with Pennsylvania state
regulations for physical therapy services. Location: Pittsburgh,
